The Nalemoru River is one of the rivers that feed the Kimana wetlands and originates from the glaciers of Kilimanjaro. Parts of the river are seasonal with the water passing underground due to the porous nature of the lava rocks. We arrange an 8 km hike along the canyon, the river has formed over the centuries. At the river banks, you find indigenous acacias, and olive and cedar trees.
Your guide will explain the medicinal and cultural use of some of them. With some luck, we may find baboons and colobus monkeys. At a scenic spot close to the Kenyan / Tanzanian border we arrange for you a barbeque lunch. An eloquent guide, familiar with the area, takes you back via the historic Outward Bound School, built in the fifties, to Loitokitok town and back to the Garden Resort. The complete standard package costs KES 4,000/- per person for a minimum group of 4 people.
